Breaking: CM Bhagwant Mann Distributes 916 Appointment Letters; Total Jobs Cross 63,000 Mark
Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann distributed appointment letters to 916 youths in Mohali, marking 63,943 total merit-based recruitments under ‘Mission Rozgar.’
The CM also announced the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna’ health cover doubling to ₹10 lakh, benefiting 65 lakh families across the state.
In a significant push for transparent governance, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann distributed appointment letters to 916 newly recruited youths from various departments during a state-level function at Vikas Bhawan, Mohali (SAS Nagar) on Friday. Under the state’s flagship ‘Mission Rozgar’, the Chief Minister highlighted that his administration has now provided a record 63,943 government jobs within four years, all strictly based on merit without any bribery or favoritism. This event underscores the government’s commitment to fulfilling the dreams of national icons like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, while simultaneously rolling out massive welfare reforms, including the expansion of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna to provide ₹10 lakh in cashless treatment.
The recruitment drive in Punjab has historically been marred by allegations of nepotism and “recommendation culture.” For decades, government positions were often viewed as political tools rather than meritocratic opportunities. Upon assuming office, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government launched ‘Mission Rozgar’ to overhaul the state’s employment mechanism. By implementing a “foolproof” and transparent system, the administration has successfully avoided legal challenges, a rarity for large-scale government recruitments in India. This shift is part of a broader “soft power” strategy to curb brain drain and address the root cause of social issues like drug addiction by providing stable, honorable livelihoods to the state’s youth within Punjab.
- Bhagwant Singh Mann (Chief Minister, Punjab):
“For decades, the rights of Punjab’s youth were grabbed by those in power for their near and dear ones. Today, we have given nearly 64,000 jobs without a single bribe. This is a red-letter day for the youth. We are not just giving jobs; we are restoring the dignity of merit that was crushed for 70 years.”
- Dr. Mukesh (Newly Appointed Medical Professional):
“This is my third government job secured purely through merit under this administration. I didn’t even have to check my email or follow up with anyone. I lost my mother due to a lack of proper treatment; I dedicate this job to her memory and will serve the people of Punjab with total integrity.”
- Cabinet Minister (Health/Agriculture Presence):
Ministers such as Dr. Balbir Singh and Gurmeet Singh Khudian emphasized that the recruitment in the Health and Animal Husbandry departments will bridge the gap between government services and common citizens, particularly farmers and the rural poor.
- Jasanpreet Kaur (Successful Candidate from Muktsar Sahib):
“I want to thank the Chief Minister for this transparent process. It gives youth from humble backgrounds like mine a genuine opportunity to prove ourselves. We can now serve the state without the burden of having owed anyone a favor to get here.”
